Marta Almeida
Head of Services
Marta is a counsellor and psychotherapist and has worked in the charity Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector since 2012.
Marta was one of the first Independent Sexual Violence Advisors in South London and the first in starting the ISVA co-location across police stations. In 2016 Marta was nominated for an award for outstanding achievement by an ISVA supporting adults. From 2016 Marta worked in different frontline roles such as Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, Senior IDVA and training support to gain the necessary experience to support both survivors of sexual abuse and domestic abuse.
Between 2017 and early 2022, Marta worked in management, setting up and overseeing specialist projects. These projects covered a range of social issues, from housing and accommodation base services to ISVA, group work, mental health services and IDVA services. In 2019 Marta helped develop and deliver training for universities on how to deal with sexual disclosures on campus.
Marta joined SurvivorsUK as our Head of Services in February 2022.
